Default Windows 7

Anyone able to get DBAOL to run under Windows 7? Freezes solid at the part where you create an account. Tried running it under various compatabilities with no luck.

Any suggestion apreciated.

Sorry, I'm running it on a Mac.

:-)

I'm running XP I think, using Boot camp, but it's all a mystery to me :-)

Yeah - me!

You need to:

1. Run DBAol in the "Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode"
2. Run DBAol with administrator rights

That worked for me. Good luck!

I emailed the support for DBAOL about a yr ago to let them know I can't download it with my Windows 7 and asked if there are any plans for any upgrades. He said no there will be no new upgrades or patches for dbaol.com. That's prob y it's free now. This game will prob lose more gamers esp with games like the Total War Series (which I play alot now) out. And with Phil Barker about 80 yrs old and not continuing the online experience updates, this game will prob just die. Sad to say.

After you've installed the software, rightclick on the icon and choose "Properties" (or something like that, my Windows 7 speaks German, and its called Eigenschaften).
In the following window there should be a tab "compatibilty" (Kompatibilität in German) where you can choose the compatibility-mode and also the Userrights you want to run the program with.

Hope that helps.

It's been quite a while since I struggled to get DBAol working under Windows 7, so I'm not totally sure what exactly I did do to make it work...

Have you tried to reinstall or let Windows 7 redo the installation with the correct settings? (I think that might be one of the things.)

Another thing I've had to do in order to get some programs to work with Windows 7 (though I'm not sure, if DBAol was one of them), was to use an external Firewall-Controll-Tool called "Windows 7 Firewall Controll" since even deactivating the Windows-7-firewall through the OS didn't work to give the programms a way into the wide wide world. So maybe you could also try that.

Good luck again and be patient - if I got it to work, so can you!
