Default 15mm Gauls

Looking for a detailed unpainted (and painted if anyone is selling) Gallic army set. Can anyone recommend a quality manufacturer. Size is not an issue. A little larger is fine.

I'd recommend Corvus Belli.
Xyston are good too, especially as you don't mind the larger stuff.
The fairly new range from Warmodelling looks interesting though the horses may be an acquired taste.
Feudal Castings have the advantage that no shields need gluing on.

CB's figs are nice, but the ones I've bought have had a lot of flash.

I think I've been lucky with CB. I had a couple of new packs of Spanish in the last week and they were flash free - probably newer figures and perhaps a bit less popular than the Gauls.
All my Gauls were bought quite a few years ago - most are still unpainted!

I painted the CB Gauls for the army I have. Lots of poses, not sure if I have any duplicates in the army. However, I painted a stand worth of Xyston Gauls for my Macedonians.....let me tell you. I would chuck the whole painted army for the cost of the lead for the Xyston figures. Absolutely enjoyed painting the four I painted.

Go Xyston

Are all Xyston figures a little larger than the standard 15mm?

I have both Corvus Belli and Xyston. Xyston are a bit larger than 15mm, but they are Gauls so they are supposed to be a bit taller

I would recommend both, I cannot separate them. Xyston are perhaps a little better but CB offer more solutions and poses, plus the triumphant Gauls holding the heads of their victims!!!

Couldn't agree more about the headhunters--my favourites! I got a pack of Xyston cavalry shields (I like the round shields with spines) and found the big ones too big for the CB Gallic cavalry; I could only use the four small shields. This gave me the impression that the Xyston figures were quite a bit bigger. On this experience I'd give my vote to CB.

I just finished my Gallic/barbarian army. I have a mix of Testudo, Pass o the North, Corvus Belli, Fantassin, and Museum infantry miniatures, and CB and Fantassin cavalry figures. I own some Xyston Gauls, but they are not in the army.

Testudo, Xyston, Fantassin and POTN are all a bit larger, and mix well together. CB is clearly smaller. I mounted the CB figs on a piece of tagboard before mounting them on the final base. This made them the same height as the others. Museum are not consisten on size. Some figs were larger, others smaller and petite. Poses were mixed too. I have a handfull of them, they add more variety to the horde.

Testudo and CB have the most active poses, with Testudo figs really looking like they are charging home. POTN have a mix of weapon options. The Fantassin are good figures, but some of the poses, especially for horses, were a bit hokey.

I am looking at doing a supplement to my existing force (for BBDBA etc) and will include Testudo and Xyston, maybe some POTN. The CB are nice figs, but small and don't mix as well. I like one or two of the berserk Testudo guys leading 2-3 of the more sedate Xyston and/or POTN figs on each stand.
