Default Donnington worth the trouble/cost?

I'm considering Donnington due to the diversity of their range for an Ottoman collection. I like to mix 'em up with poses as much as possible.
I know they run big, so would expect to need to pair them with Venexia, which also run large. And not with Essex.
However, the US stockist died and AFAIK there is no alternative to ordering from GB.
If there is anyone who has used this range, particularly with Venexia, I'd appreciate your opinion.
Thanks!
Pete

Pete,

Who was the US stockist and when did they die?

Howdy Pikeman,

I used to carry Donnington until about 1998. I might have some Ottoman still in the barn. I would be more than happy to look over the weekend if that would help.

I do not have any Venexia to compare them with, so cannot help with that question, sorry.

Default Donnigton - Venexia

Ciao,
I ordered a bunch of HYW form Donnington few weeks ago and there were no problem at all, consider you can order figure by figure you will got exactly what you need. I took near 30 different codes (knights, horses, infantry) and there were no errors in my order, shipping was fair too, at least to Italy.

Venexia: I saw many times their Ottoman range during tournament and other conventions and I can assure is very very nice, but big to mix with essex, pics in Venexia website are not good.
I own near all the "Italian Wars" range: great, and a philistine/sea-people army.
Italian wars can be mixed with Donnington HYW, so I think for Ottoman.

I hope this can help.

It has been a couple of years since I ordered any Donnington, but at that time they had good trans-Atlantic service. I love being able to order by single figures!

Yes Tony I was back in the day.

I used to import the following . . .
Lancashire
Donnington
MiniFig UK
Tin Soldier
Irregular
Pendraken
Steve Barber
Chariot
Falcon Figures US
Asgard/Viking Forge
Alternative Armies
WRG rules and books

but since 1998, I have just concentrated on Pendraken's 10mm range. Most of the rest I have sold the stock but I still have some stash in the barn. Terry Webb and his group purchased several complete armies for their DBA-HX armies of Roundheads and Cavaliers :-)

Sooo if you ever need some 10mm dudes drop me an email. I can also search the barn for any of the above ranges if you email me off this list because I dont think this is the proper forum to discuss stuff like that "-)

Default Pendraken 10's

Hi: I thought that The War Store was the only Pendraken distributor here in the States? It so happens that I am interested is some figs from the Marlburian range if you carry any of those. Let me know via PM if you have them and what kind of deal we can strike! John Svensson

I've ordered Donnington a few times since A&M took over and got excellent service here in the States every time. I've never seen the Ottoman range, but Donnington figures tend to be large, basic, and chunky - which I like, but some may disagree. Donnington are about the same size as my Venexia Philistines, but I'm afraid I don't have any Venexia Ottomans.
