Just wondering...

How come Knights don't get the same charge bonus as WB?

Mostly what mellis said, but the "charge bonus" has been described as a sudden, wild rush. Knights thunder and crash, but they do not tend to do it "suddenly" - certainly not more suddenly than Cv could.

Yeah, the poor Cv wouldn't have a chance if kniggets could leap 600p in a (literal) bound. Though I'd almost be willing to let them do it if their quick-kills were restricted to the first contact - rather like Bw v mounted - which I think might simulate shock action better. (Not that I care too much, I guess, having shifted all my attention to HoTT, where the kniggets need all the advantages they can get.)

Because they walked until around 50-100 yards then moving to a canter or a trot at most. Lots of armor is NOT conducive to distance running.

Warbands didn't sprint everywhere either! Nobody did.

I thought the bonus move reflects impetuosity. It tempts the player to charge!

Just have a look a DBMM then, knight's get closer to being super troops there and Cv epically get a bad deal - and all for the same points as DBM. The more I look at that system the more I want Phil to concentrate on it and leave the other existing games well alone.

Oh, I don't want them to be super troops - but what with the really formidable 4AP mounted types, Bh not needing the second pip to move that Ellies require, Rd getting Cv CF and LH speed, and losing the QK against Bd, kniggets in HoTT are definitely playing in a tougher environment than their DBA cousins. As the future proprietor of a semi-historical condotta army, this makes me sad.

This surprises me a bit - DBMM strengthened Cv a lot against foot (higher CF and ignores overlaps in own bound). They did get more fragile against Kn, but also more likely to kill them back, and what I most often hear denounced as a supertroop in DBMM is superior cavalry.

Knights for the most part are disciplined at the start of a charge, they follow orders and do not want to exhaust their horses. It is just after they win a combat that they get out of control. Warbands, by the way, do not sprint everywhere, they only "sprint" when they know they can get into combat.
