Default Dbr

just bought DBR rules on ebay.. They are 1.1 rules and i got book 1 and book 2.. I have been leafing through the rules.. They are much different from DBA and DBM.. Also i am wondering who around Ohio plays these? If not DBR then what rule set? I am interested in the period but know little about it.. I want to make a 30 years war Swede army.. Along with a ton of other projects going on.. Penny for your thoughts?

The two army books are perfectly fine. Don't read the v1.1 rules as the current 2.0 rules are significantly different. The terrain setup changed, the troop deployment changed, the PIP costs changed and new actions that cost PIPs were added.

I know that Jim Kasper in Cleveland plays 25mm DBR, and is going to start a 15mm DBR army after some current projects. I will be in Cleveland on the weekend of May 16th and may have time for a game at Gamers Haven on the Saturday. I will have my 15mm ECW Royalists packed as I will be en route to the tournament in Alexandria. I can bring my Maximilian Imperials if it turns out our schedules mesh. Perhaps Jim is free as well.

Andy,

I have been exploring DBR and played 3 500 point games in the last month. It *is* different from DBM and you can see the seeds for DBMM. (There are a minimal amount of 'grading factors' which add a nice flavor to your troops and the game.)

It is an excellent rules set and I would encourage you to play. Make sure you get the 2.0 rules, try On Military Matters.

We are only a few hours apart...

Steve

My 25mm DBR armies are Arabs & Samurai. Working every so slowly on Russians. I was just thinking in 15mm I have a very late Tuetonic army that I could get a reasonalble Italian wars army out of.

Location in Ohio Cleveland.

Will, contact me about the 16th. A busy weekend for me but it depends on when you are free. Friday night might work. Or Sunday.

Cheers

Jim,

Let me check with the family. It looks like Saturday is tied up with a party and Sunday with the graduation ceremony. Perhaps Friday or Sunday night. I'll PM you when I know.

I have the DBR rules; haven't done much with them, they look pretty good though; I have two ECW Scenario books that are not WRG but were designed to go with the system.

If I can put my 2 cents in - don't do it!!!

Stick to a DBA conversion for the period.

hehe, I am a person who plays all types of rule sets and eras.. I just can't stick to one.. I love DBA and will continue to play it.. But i am interested getting into the 30 Years War and English Civil War. I also do Ancients and Medieval with FOG.. OH NO! lol, each rule set has a different feel. I also do Johnny Reb III... And i have been selected to play test Napoleonic version of FOG.. Which i will be recieving soon.. So many time periods.. So little time.

Sorry, but I have to agree 110% with Victor. We have been playing ECW using DBA-HX, and also the conquest of hte New World with them, and both have given us some really fun games, and allowed us to build some great little armies! There is NOTHING to replace DBA and it's many variants in my book!
