I was going to place an order for new rule sets and army list books. It has been a few years since I have played and I am certain my rule sets are way out of date. For the most part I prefer a current copy rather than going through the books marking out the old text and then writting in the new changes in the margin.

So in an effort to make sure I am current with The Word according to Phil:

DBA is soon to be version 2.2 but has not yet been published ?

Is Big Battle DBA included in the 2.2 version ? If not is it a stand alone book with it's own army lists ?

DBMM is in playtest and will be rely on the current DBM armies lists until current stocks are depleted ?

DBM is now going to be an obsolete rule set when DBMM is released ?

-------------------------------------------------

Advanced Armati is soon to be Replaced by an New soon released Armati II which is awaiting final editing and publishing ?

-------------------------------------------------

Have any books been released for Warhammer Ancient Battles covering the Hundred Years War and The Wars of the Roses yet ? If so what is the name of this book ?

SOON, it will be mentioned on this site when it is available

BB is in 2.0 book and I assume will be in 2.2. Uses 3 regular DBA armies.

people still play WRG 7 and even 6, so there may be DBM players. Biggest issue is what NASAMW will support and British Gaming group, at conventions. Also the IWF for the world games

DBA 2.2 is not out yet, but the changes are supposedly final and I'm sure the new print edition is in production. I would expect (knock on wood) for shops to have them by mid-late February, and definitely in time for Cold Wars (March 12-14)

As DBA 2.0 included Big Battle (and Giant Battle) rules, and since all editions have included the army lists, I have no reason to believe DBA 2.0 will not include them as well.

I'm not sure of the stock levels for DBM. But I have heard that the DBMM playtesting and editing is likely to continue until this Fall. That is a second-hand rumour, however. There is probably even more work to be done on the four books of DBM (DBMM) army lists.

Check out the Armati mail group for the latest news on Armati at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ARMATI/. As of the December postings, it looks like rules changes are still being discussed.

Warhammer Ancients Battles has supplements/expansions out for Armies of Antiquities, Chariot Wars, Alexander the Great Fall of the West (Late Rome), Shield Wall (Dark Ages), El Cid, and English Civil War. Nothing specific out yet on HYW.

Robert, I can watch for it at "Fire & Sword" for you, if you like, and then fire a copy of it to you across the Sound once it arrives.

I've never played WAB, but I enjoy these supplements as painting guides. Good terrain ideas too!

Thanks for the Update Guys. Paul thanks for the offer. That is very kind of you. I will probably order a copy from Wargames though. My birthday is coming up in February and I am asking the wife for a gift certificate from Wargames. I am getting my 25mm Hundred Years War Troops ready for Warhammer Ancient Battles and need a few items from them. Hopefully if I can do enough good deeds around the house she will let me come down to Enfilade this May. It starts on her birthday so I will have to do some major buttering. Hopefully I will be able to run a few events. Thinking about a very large battle followed by a big siege. I located a mint hardcover copy of Warhammer Seige which was the last edition before it went out of print in 98 and I am pretty sure I will not have to much of a problem making it work in W.A.B.. I also found armies list from the web for the English and French with optional rules for that period. The look pretty solid.

Robert,

There was a soft cover edition of WH:Seige put out for the edition of WH before the current one. I think the seige rules may now be included in the main WH:Fantasy book. (or is that the 98 edition? I should check my books to see)

The reissue had streamlined rules compared to the original, but either version should be easy enough to adapt to WAB.

Adapting it to DBA might take a bit of doing though

7th edition is still fairly strong. It is called Warrior now and has a dedicated following of less than rabid competitive types such as myself.

the truely unstable rabid tournament wonks all currently play the "slow" version of DBM called 3.0. Some of these guys are great fellows but hard to find amongst the endless banter of the frothy pack.

DBA is as indicated in 2.2. NASMAMW is hammering out exactly what the .2 part intails for tournament business, but otherwise it and BB are still very fun and relaxing ancients.

WAB will grow new rules and armies. If you don't see your army, just wait a day or two.

DBMM has changed completely in the last three revisions. The current revision is less playable than the last, but you can join the +500 messages a day list and add your opinions that will also be discarded

Me? I play whatever is available...

So has anyone out there played any games of DBMM? My regular opponents around here haven't the time or patience for games of that length. I rarely have the time, but sometimes I like the greater depth that can come with some of the greater complexity of DBM, and I'm wondering how DBM 2.0/3.0 and DBMM 0.3 compare in terms of "playability" and game length.
