Old Glory 15mm Crusader and Saracens

What type of info are you looking for?

Of the Christians, some of the foot are redundant in that the crusader, Crhistian orders and Outreamers troops are interchangable for MI and HI spear, archers and crossbow. The variation in armor style on the mounted troops and dismounted Knights and MAA. I like the melee weapons better than lances which are thin. Some folks prefer to clip and drill for piano wire lances anyway.

The pilgrims and paeasants are nice and can be used for Europe as well. The Armenians are nice.

The Saracens and do not forget the Seljek Turks. These can be added to the Andalusian and Conquest ranges to provides a lot of variety.

Some troop types require that you have the DBM books or WRG books to associate them with the Saracen, Fatamid or other dynasties. Nice moslem peasants and I use a lot of the Syrian Skirmishers as this is one of the few places that you can get the javelin are troops.

Part 3. many DBA armies can be made . I classify my Early Crusader armies as either european (CR) or Outreamer (OR) armor. The Armenians, Syrians, Cyprus, Romanian Frank, Fatamids, Saracens, Subsaharan Daylami and others can be made.

I do not drill out for piano wire lances. So I tend to use the melee wepaon Knights. The lances are all verticle

If you prefer horizontal lances both Museum and Falcon UK have castings with that pose.The Museum are stury poses and the kneeling foot spearman is great.

Outpost Wargame Services manufactures some really nice Islamic figures for the Crusades period.

They mix well with Essex in terms of size. Museum figures are generally somewhat larger, especially the Camelry. Nevertheless I have many Museum Arabs too. What is especially nice about OWS is that they have done detailed research into producing the figures which has resulted in historically accurate figures. See:

If you are looking at building a specific Islamic army then OWS provides a basis for the main Islamic armies of the period.
