I think the old TTG line was actually pretty good. (I know... Many of you are probably saying, "Yeah, but he also likes those frumpy old Mikes Models and strip Minifigs." )

TTG animation tends to be quite good. They are closer to the so-called, "true 15mm" scale, but they will still be easily compatible with Essex 15s. Probably the greatest knock against them is that you will not have much (if any) variety of poses. That concept just wasn't in vogue yet when this range came out.

I have just one TTG army, my Blemmyes. Perhaps their best figures were their Sarmatian cavalry range.

--Just one person's opinion, of course.

thanks for the feedback paul. i don't really mind the few poses, since i figure a disciplined army like the romans should pretty much be in formation at all times; now rampaging hordes of vikings or celts is another story......

we'll see how the bidding goes. what price would you put on one of the unpainted armies?

I did my Sarmatians (they're on the Armies of the Fanatici pages, under Koen De Smedt) with mostly TTG figures, and they were very nice. I subsequently bought some Germans and Gauls from them, and was less happy, especially the lack of variation for them.

But I can agree, the Sarmatians were very nice! So, that's 2 people's opinions already

Does anyone know whether this range is extant or extinct? M.Y. Miniatures doesn't list it and Wildly Inspired Miniatures looks likes it's dead (or deadish).

May be I'm mixing up ranges here

I believe my Sarmatians are Table Top Miniatures (from Wales) rather than Table Top Games. TTM can be found on http://tabletopminiatures.co.uk/

Cheers,
Koen

I think I'm right in saying that these figures were originally produced by Tabletop Games (which sells rules etc) but the miniatures part got sold off some years back and became Tabletop Miniatures. I believe both TTG and TTM have since changed hands. I'm glad they're available again - they have purposeful, robust look to them and they're a real pleasure to paint.
