I just picked up a three headed giant dog which I think would be perfect for HOTT. Also got a nice dragon for $5. Both painted and ready to go. Can anyone tell me what the 25mm base depths are for dragons and behemoths? Did a quick web search but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

Hi Roland.
Behemoths are on a 60x60 base. Dragons are on a 60x80 base (80 deep, natch) With that said, Behemoths often need to go on a deeper base depending upon the figure. In my Ever-Victorious Necromancer Army I've got two skeletal Mammoths and an enormous skeletal Wooly Rhinocerous, and all of them are on 60x80 bases. I've got a skeletal Dragon I haven't painted yet -- I'm not sure if I'm going to use it as a Dragon or as a Behemoth (how can it fly by flapping its bones? The aerodynamics are all wrong), but no matter what, it won't fit on a 60x60. Basically any Behemoth that isn't a biped is going to have trouble fitting in a 60x60 base. Are you going to bring a HOTT army to Fall In? |

I figured if it was 60x60 I would go deeper. Even 60x80 may be a bit short but thats what I'll do - put it on an 80 deep base. The dragon actually does fit quite well on a 60x80 base as its sort of sitting up.
I've dug up my very firsy figures and starte basing them for HOTT. Lots of Orcs, Some skeletons and some beasties. I think I'm doing the skeletons as hordes - not sure about the orcs - maybe warband. If I get them done in time I'll bring them - just a queastion of priorities. |

I just found another box of old D&D stuff so I should have plently of figs to do this. I also have some 25mm late medieval stuff I could use in a pinch.
One more question though - Can the general be any element? A horde, a hero, a flyer or a Magician can be the general ? I have some cool demons with wings that would be nice for this. |

I know a Horde can be the general, but if it gets killed and you bring it back on-map it isn't the general any more. Hero, Flyer, Magician can all be generals. |

Hi David
Your Skeleton Dragon can fly. You are thinking to literally. Whatever holds the bones together and animates them also makes sure they can fly. Its all done by magic after all. |

Certainly skeletal dragons can fly. Their bones are held together by microscopic filaments that can catch the wind as the wings beat.
The important thing about base depths is that the element must recoil only the depth of the listed base or its width, which ever is less. Thus a behemoth on a 120mm deep base still only recoils 60mm. |

Another, perhaps even more-potent argument is this: I've got 60+ points of Skellies, already including four Behemoths. Adding a Skeletal Dragon is more cool than adding a fifth Behemoth. |

Is it time for Big Battle games at the Con, so players can get all of their big ticket elements on the table at one time.
I would like to do a giant battle scenario game at Cold Wars so people can see what a big table full of figures looks like. Maybe Thursday night. Undead vs League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? or more of an ancient flavor, Argonaouts vs Undead. Then I can put out Hercules as a behemoth. Bob |
