Default What is the movement pace cost for a 180 degree turn?

Hi All

What is the movement point (pace) cost of a 180 degree turn (not a flee outcome move.) I know in friendlies there has been different interpretations, I am looking for the "tournament official version" (if there is such an animal.) I looked in the DBA 2.2 rulebook and the WADBAG unofficial guide with no luck. Can anyone help?

Measure the corner that moves the farthest. So it differs by base depth. For example, for a mounted stand to spin 180 degrees on its center (ending up inside its own footprint) in a 15mm scale game, every corner would move exactly 50mm (according to Pythagorus), which is very slightly less than 200 paces (50.8mm).

But is there a standard movement cost for turning 180 degrees? There is not. There is a rule to determine all movement; apply it to any situation.

David's handy conversion between metric and American (yeah, I know that's not what its called) measuring systems does get me wondering.

Does anyone play DBA using 25mm = 100 paces. I gather it would cut down on some of the calculations such as this? (Or maybe this is the only calculation that would change.)

If an element flips and has some small fraction of a 100p move left, do people try to figure it out, or do you drop move distances that are less than a full 100p move. I think Phil sort of endorses the idea of not fiddling around with fractional or millimetric moves, yes?

I don't know of anyone who measures things so carefully that the difference between 25mm and 1 inch would be apparent. David's just showing off by doing the geometry. Pythagorus is rarely used while we're actually playing. Might make a nice camp follower though.

I would definitely use the whole allowed move in this situation, but I would approach it a little differently. The flip and the movement forward are all part of the same move, so I would only make one measurement. Just measure the beginning to ending distance. It doesn't matter what you do to get there.

He's Ionian, 6th Century BC. Early Hoplite Greek. But I'd be tempted to use some of the Corvus Belli road survey crew, with one of the Falcon CUB Roman Civilian range as the Big Man himself.

My memory is that I've heard players on the continent (across the pond) use this method.

They must do this in Australia as they are all metric down there.

nah for sentiments sake we still use that inefficient means of measure that the Poms and Yanks use.

Default Metric

Speaking as a Pom, I play in cm, and so does everyone I know. But then we are 25mm players, so we don't have much choice.
