Question Ps rear support

Here's one for you... in a recent battle between my Sea Peoples and Martyn Smith's NKE (expertly painted by his daughter!), the SP blade came up againt the NKE chariots, and were lucky enough to have supporting Ps. The Blades were in a continuous line, 3x3Bd next to 3x4Bd. There was a Ps behind a 3Bd, who was next to a 4Bd (different base depths).

Can the Ps give rear support to the 4Bd next door? Ther rules state they can to troops of the same type. The crux of the question is - are 3Bd and 4Bd the same "type" - ie, both Blades - or are they different - ie, one is 3Bd and one is 4Bd.

We went down the "blades are blades, whatever their base depth" route, so the support was allowed - I then went on to win the game

The blades were in continuous front corner and side edge contact.

Thats the way we've always played and I believe thats the communities concensus. Depth does not matter as long as the other requirements are met.

On page 5 of the rules, the troop TYPES are listed as: Elephants, Knights, Cavalry, Light Horse, ..., Blades,....

This is just a little meat to support your feeling that 'blades are blades'.
