Here is a link to a pictorial DBA battle report of Polybian Romans vs. Later Carthaginians. I've been making this type of battle report for my Warhammer games for years now, and I wanted to see if it translated well for DBA games.
This is my third DBA game, and in each one there are new lessons learned. [edit] MSN Groups can be very slow. If the screen doesn't paint then hit the Refresh icon until it does. [ March 03, 2006, 11:57: Message edited by: Pavane ] |

This is very impressive - pity there wasn't a bit more push and shove in the game!

Those are some great photos. What type of camera did you use to take them. I've taken some photos of my games but my digital camera doesn't seem to have enough resolution to show the detail visible in your pictures.

@Fionn: I use a Fujifilm FinePix 2600 for the pictures. It is only a 3 MegaPixel camera. I use it on the automatic setting with a small tripod and timer, but I have excellent overhead lighting.
@Adrian: If I take pictures of a game, I always post a battle report regardless of the outcome. I think that defeats are just as informative as victories. I never try to suggest that my battle reports reflect the best play; only real play with all of the warts. I certainly don't want to just report my victories. [edit] It is a 2 megapixel camera. Making a pictorial battle report for DBA is different from Warhammer in that Warhammer always has six turns. At a minimum that is 12 photos, and probably not more then 16. For DBA I have many dozen photos and have to discard 2/3 to 3/4 to make a manageable story. No one will want to read a bound-by-bound report and I don't want the overhead of recording PIP scores. I'm just trying to show the flow of the battle and significant events.
Perhaps someone can do this for the finals of some of the Cold Wars tournament games for all to see. |

Will,
Thanks for the photo tips. I guess size does matter! My digital camera is only 1.3 megapixels. I am going to try the tripod and self-timer though. Maybe try for some better lighting as well, been shoot my photos on the kitchen table. Keep up the good work with your battle reports they are great. |
