For Wb the "Woad Song" would have to be a classic - I have a copy in my ancient British army case that I render when I'm using them...
http://www.frivolity.com/teatime/Son.../woad_ode.html Whle for a Welsh army in particular there's always WElsh History 101B: http://www.gwerin.org.uk/silly/songs/favourites.htm |

I think that "Mars" from Holst's "The Planets Suite" would be a good accompaniment for spears. Or perhaps even better, "Gimn Sovetskogo Soyuza".
Sung by the RED army choir of course Jldiii!!! |

http://users.wolfcrews.com/toys/vikings/ </font>
I LOVE the Viking Kittys!! But, in my humble opinion, Vikings have to be represented by "The Lay of the Surfers" by Robert Calvert (Lucky Leif and the Longships). For any Cav, (but Knights in particular) it HAS to be "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Translations do vary slightly, but the one below is a good as anything; (I particulary like the last 3 lines - quite apt for gamers) Sors salutis Fate opposes me et virtutis in vitality michi nunc contraria, and morality, est affectus forced ever onward, et defectus Burdened, semper in angaria. always in shackles. Hac in hora So this very moment, sine mora without tarrying, corde pulsum tangite; pluck the quivering strings. qudo per sortem Because fate sternit fortem, punishes the one who plays, mecum omnes plangite! all lament with me! For War Wagons, I would vote for "The Deadwood Stage", sung by Doris Day. [ May 26, 2005, 03:47: Message edited by: Cyrus the Ringmaster ] |

For spear I like
'When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again'. Afterall, the quintessential element of spear is the sturdy yeoman citizen-soldier. Who leaves behind town and country to join ranks and defend their beloved land from the depredations of others. |

Ed -
I love your suggestions. But mostly because I know all the words to most of the songs you suggest -- or the ones that have words anyway. "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant." John "'Cepting Alice." |
