Default Historicon 2012 Campaign Theme: 2nd Punic War

Announcing the Campaign Theme event for Historicon 2012:

Rome vs. Carthage 235 BC: 2nd Punic War!
A generation before Hannibal, Rome and Carthage are two titans teetering back and forth in titanic battle!

To represent this conflict, there will be two different types of armies: Major Powers (armies of Rome or Carthage) and Minor Powers (everyone else). There will be two winners; one Major Power general and one Minor Power. This allows us to represent a conflict in which there was no way that a Minor Power could create an empire that would rival Rome, but conflict with Minor Powers was still a consistent theme throughout the whole war.

Here is the map:

Note the red and purple locations -- these represent the two victory tracks for Rome and Carthage, and also control the locations of their field armies. The two purple locations closest to the enemy on the Spanish front will be held by two Carthage armies, and so on for the Sicilian front and for Roman armies similarly. Success in battle will advance the front towards the enemy, much like the various linear campaigns sometimes discussed on Fanaticus.

Signup is open immediately. Generals and Armies available are:

Carthage: (all II/32 Later Carthage)
  • Hasdrubal
  • Mago
  • Hamilcar
  • Bomilcar

Rome: (all II/33 Polybian Roman)
  • Marcellus
  • Publius
  • Nero
  • Livius

Minor Powers:
  • II/40 Numidia West (Jugurtha). [No Blade Option]
  • II/40 Numidia West (Micipsa). [No Blade Option]
  • II/39(a) Baetica
  • II/39(a) Carpetani
  • II/39(c) Lusitani
  • II/39(b) Celtiberia [all 3Wb are rated as Raiders]
  • II/11 Aquitani
  • II/11 Gallia Transalpina
  • II/11 Gallia Cisalpina (possibly two of these armies)
