A friend of mine is doing an ancient Siamese DBM army. Are there any ideas on sources for what colors should be used? Thanks

When I was in Thailand last year I took a picture of this mural on a temple complex wall (I think it told the story of Rama?)... anyway I don't know time period it reflects, but its a starting point.

I saw a 1400s era painting in one source that I used for my articles. While the men from different units had the same color of tunic/ jacket, they all had wide panteloons of various colors.

The colors were all very bright reds, greens, blues and yellow variations.

These were wearing a wide brim hat.

It's 1528, but for some painting inspiration, see if you can find a copy of Suriyothai http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290879/ The big battle scene with charging elephants alone is worth the price of admission.

You've got to love a DBA army comprised of elephants and warband.

If you haven't seen the blurb yet on "The Miniatures Page", it appears that an outfit, called "The Baker Company" now makes 15mm Siamese. Presumably, they're suitable for DBA IV/40 Siamese armies?

I saw them today at 'Colours'. They looked fairly nice - not the very best figures, but decent enough and will probably paint well. The elephants are probably the best of the range. The majority of the infantry were pretty poorly dressed so I imagine would be suitable for pretty early periods.
The full range is at http://www.bakercompany.co.uk/store/...?idCategory=53

I know, that's inherently subjective, but one always worries about new ranges. If they seem as if they would be compatible with Essex, I'd buy 'em, sight unseen. On the other hand, if they're more compatible with those really oversized ranges, e.g. Xyston, Falcon, et al, I'll wait until they come out in 15mm, he says with a loud, "Hrumph"!

The elephants look excellent, the range seems worth buying just for those. They actually look like Asian elephants. Is there a US distributor?

Difficult to say without another figure alongside, but I thought size and style were similar to Donnington. The elephants were probably bigger than ones I have from Gladiator and Old Glory but that isn't definite.
