Most of my armies are littoral and I never know how to set up my camp to protect it when my back is on the waterway and being attacked by another littoral army. How should I set up my elements so my camp is defended in the event of 4 enemy elements landing beside me?

1) You can hope a single blade element in the camp will work, if you have one.
2) Deploy with a reserve near your camp, but the camp empty. 3) Draw your opponent into landing, hope to get a good PIP die, turn and destroy the landing. Remember loss of the camp is not loss of the game. David Constable

With that in mind, be careful about putting bad going at the extreme ends of the waterway, thereby preventing you placing your camp in good going on the flanks. Martin |

I prefer to set up in a way that might tempt the landing. Then turn and crush it like a bug while the rest of their army slogs across the field, woefully far away from the battle.

I agree fighting against just 4 enemy elements is a good way to win. Be careful if the waterway is to your rear and the enemy has light horse, especially if you are defending. I had a blast dancing around my opponent trying to chase down my single LH littoral lander. Unless I rolled a 1 two turns in a row he wasn't going to catch me but he sure tried.................

The attacker plays first, so if they land their landing will happen before your first turn. If they land, you have a flexible force that can land right where they are and beat them into the sea. If they don't land, spend a few turns moving your landing force back up to your main line and get on with life. It's even quicker if you land with mounted troops. This makes an attacker landing less likely since they know you can counter it, and less likely to succeed, since you can counter it ![]() Alan
