My attendance at Historicon is becoming more and more certain, so I propose to run the following Giant Battle DBA event. Preferably to run opposite HoTT, or maybe the WADBAG event as an overflow for anyone not wanting to paint up Chinese armies. I decided on this for anyone painting up or bringing Polybians for Mark's Punic Wars themed tourney.
The Battle of Pydna, 168 B.C. As part of the Third Macedonian War, the Battle of Pydna was pivotal not only for being a critical loss for the Macedonians; but in fact, set the stage for the immediate decline of Macedonia and its eventual annexation by Rome. This battle also demonstrated the ascendancy of the Roman manipular battle formation over the Macedonian Phalanx. Choose your side: The expansionist Romans, or the last Antigonid King: Perseus of Macedonia. Bring either II/33 Polybian Roman or II/35 Later Macedonian. Polybian players may bring one elephant element in addition to the standard list detailed in the rulebook (thus making the army 13 elements). No need to bring a camp, each side will only have one, and these will be provided by the GM. Some special deployment rules will be utilized, as will some BBDBA rules. Special event cards will be used to help the flow of the battle. 12 player event. GM will have some loaners available.

I will be at Historicon this year Thursday afternoon. That said, I'd willing to run either the 25mm open again, or a 4 round 15mm "campaign" tourney for 12 people, based on the the successful WADBAG model, for "The Scourging of the British Isles 1000-1100AD"
The following armies would be used (# in parenthesis are number of armies of that type) : Viking III/40b (2) Norse Irish III/46 (2) Welsh III/19A (1) Anglo-Dane (2) Pre-Feudal Scots III/45 (1) Norman III/51 (1) Western Frank III/51 (1) Scot Isles and Highlands III/77 (1) Leidang III/40c (1) Special rules - unless defending their own territories, Normans and Franks will always be the Invader (no die roll required). Also if a waterway exists, Normans and Franks may make a littoral landing. I have some loaner armies if needed. EDIT: Suggested Map Added. ![]() Just a thought - no demands here but fun gaming ... and lots of it!! ![]()

Alan,
That sound like a really cool tourney as well! What I would like to see is 15mm events that those of us that don't to HOTT or 25mm can participate in, so having your tourney opposite to either one of those events would be really cool. I also really like the concept of "pre-registering" for any of the Bring-and-Play Tourneys here ahead of time (so us painters can get to work ) and that way we already know which armies to bring. Planning ahead for which armies are required is important for those of us that plan on flying up since carry-on space in very limited.

I vote for both the Chinese and British Isles campaign. I have Vikings already and I've started painting my Chinese army.
I'm drawing my inspiration from the Movie "Hero." May not be totally historical but looks COOL! DS can I play II/4a Ch'in??????pleeeeaaase? Spencer

I didn't see this listed on the draft schedule. Does that mean it is a no-go?
