Hi.
Phil posted this yesterday: ------------------------------------------- The current test version of 3.0 will be in files by Friday evening. It has been providing very exciting games, increased realism and minimal extra complexity, so I trust you will enjoy playing with it. Suicidal Aztec hordes in particular have provided much entertainment, as the Denver lads will tell you. One innovation compared with the last version is that BUA now gives you a choice of: CITY – just like the old BUA. FORT – same combat characteristics but no denizens and no penalties for loss apart from the death of the garrison. HAMLET or Township – an area of scattered or grouped houses among gardens, paddocks, orchards. All inhabitants already fled, counting only as bad going. EDIFICE – to provide an alternative camp for people who object to their permanent structures being banned – a single large building, such as an American or other pyramid, the Pharos of Alexandria, a large temple, a medieval monastery or a good substantial ruin. Also on the scenery front, bad going has been split into stuff like steep hills and woods that affects combat for all but light troops and stops shooting, and stuff that just slows you down like boggy, scrub and enclosures. Combat is also more historically accurate, with the interaction between Kn, Bd, Sp and Warband improved, mainly by using equals results as a tipping factor; but the changes are easy to deal with and in some cases are simpler than 2.2. Sounds awesome! I was less than enthused at the start but each version gets better.

Have not been following progress (Yahoo is crap), but sounds interesting.
Edifice - I was not aware anyone anywhere had the balls to tell others their Pyramids are banned. Laughable! |

I like the BUA options as I have been refurbishing my collection to add variety. Look forward to this.

The last three sound good, just get rid of "city".

Speaking of pyramids, if memory serves, edifis was the name of the architect in Asterix and Cleopatra. Ciao. |

![]() As for the new BUA types - Phil was quite adamant that Camps should by temporary structures so that if players wanted to use their Pyramids, Parthenons and other stonework would need to use them as BUAs. A number of us said that no one would ban a camp just because it was represented by a permanent structure (and more to the point that we would continue to use them ourselves). Subdividing BUAs into four, and at the same time allowing Edifi as a camp is in some ways a step forward - but in others it is an answer to a question that no one actually asked. Cheers

Seems all those feathered helmets do nothing to aid a rapid advance to contact. The only swiftness to be found is in flight, which they share with all the defeated.
