Lol
It must be said that they have not been returning any correspondence regarding the take over for some months now. I'll keep plugging away though. G |

I have quite literally tried everything I can think of to get this bastard to run on Windows 7, even to the point of subjecting the pc to some physical trauma.
Besides making the "page Up" and "Ins" keys a little less solid and reliable I have achieved no discernable outcome. ANy more ideas? |

Well I must be one of the lucky ones !!!!
I am running windows 7 and just came back to DBAOL. Downloaded it and installed and ran with no issues. Sounds like this is the exception as opposed to the rule in the win 7 cases... weird. I am not running under any compatibility or administration modes. My only issue is the 'renew subscription' problem to which I have emailed Alexander and will hopefully get a reply in due course from him.

I think the problem with DBAOL on windows7, is seen on 64-bit platforms. I have noticed many older games and drivers (32-bit applications) do not function on 64-bit windows7, regardless of compatability mode.

Hi,
Just to add a few more 'how tos' for those who are trying to get DBAOL to run on Windows 7: -Install DBAOL on your 7 machine per normal. -Navigate to the program icon -Right click on the program icon and you should get a window that includes a tab at the bottom named 'properties' -Left click on the 'properties' tab and a window will open that has a tab named 'compatibily' -Left click on that tab -Left click on the button at the bottom called 'change settings for all users' and another window called 'compatibility for all users' will pop up -Check the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then navigate to the 'windows XP (Service Pack 3)' in the window -Check the box at the bottom 'run this program as an administrator' -Left click on the 'apply' -You will likely have to restore your user name. This worked for me running Windows 7 starter on a little notebook. Banzai |

Dear friends in DBAOL,
I have tried Win 7 64 bit...it doesn't work. I have tried as administrator, no administrator, compatible with XP (pack 3), installed in different folders, root of the disk...nothing to do. The problem I think the 32 bit or 64 bit. I have tried Win 7 32 bit and it works. I have installed in the root of the disk. Win 7 64 bit cannot read 16 bit! Mike. My new nickname for DBAOL is now: Mike The Stammerer (2) (2) yes twice (2)! My son push me to try on 32 bit. Last edited by Mike The Stammerer; 09-13-2012 at 03:58 AM. Reason: addition |

Hi everybody,
first I have to apologize to all my opponents who have by now most assuredly grown tired of waiting for my bounds, but somehow or other real live has gotten in the way of getting the planned alternativ computer (our notebook which is still crawling along under Win XP) set up with the DBAOL installation and our (my husband's and my own's) accounts. I guess you know how it is... And since we both got new PCs sometime late last year and changed over to Windows 7 64bit - no DBAOL ![]() But as I at least got as far as writing this post and the horribly long and convoluted first sentence, perhaps I'll even manage to find the time to set up DBAOL on the notebook next weekend, if the server is up again until then that is. ![]() Kate PS: At least I'm still keeping up on what's happening here in this forum.
