Default Marcher Lords

So yeah...Norman feudalists, truculent Welsh, foreign adventurers...sounds like fun don't it?

Who has looked into this as a campaign or themed series of games?

Who can recommend a good read on the matter?

Contexts for imaginary bloodshed are mandatory.

As usual, I'd start with old Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_Marches
And there is a game:

I imagine Macbeth might know some books on the subject. See also:
The Scottish and Welsh Wars 1250-1400 (Men at Arms Series, 151) &
Welsh Wars Of Edward I by John Morris.

This title may be of some interest. It runs to 103pp, illustrated in black & white, includes maps. It's published by Bridge Books of Wrexham, Wales. I picked up a copy for 7.99 in a border castle! It's on UK Amazon.

A number of years ago my wife, six week old son (he's now 24) and I spent a number of weeks on a driving holiday in England and Wales. One of the coolest places we visited was Harlech Castle. Although the sea has receded from the castle's front, one could envision the defenders looking out to sea for advancing enemy from the high walls of the castle. We drove from Hereford to Aberystwyth down the Wye River valley, and it was breath-takingly beautiful, then up the coast to Harlech and Canarvon after a stop in Brecon. The Welsh people were so kind and welcoming to us. Upon our return to the States, I immediately ordered an all option DBA Welsh army, which I have played many times. Here's some pictures of Harlech castle:
