Hi all,
The NY DBA gamers are trying to gauge the interest of a DBA one day or two day event the weekend of August 4 at Dragon's Den in Poughkeepsie, NY (15 minutes off I-84 on US Route 9) -- about 30 minutes North of West Point. If you have interest in the event would you please indicate so in a response to either this thread or a similar thread on in the News section, so we can move forward with planning if warranted. Who is up for some gaming in August ? best, Bill

DK & DS,
You indicated that you might be willing to come to our proposed event in NY to run your Punic Wars campaign (we'd LOVE to have you do that)....does the weekend of August 4 comport with your schedules ? Bill

DS didn't respond that I recall, it was me. August 4 will fit fine if I'm not in Western Canada that week; my family haven't firmed up their plans so I don't know yet. It fits fine with my teaching schedule (the semester won't have started yet). If I can come, I will run the Punic Wars. I should know within a month or so if that is possible.

Thanks David, we hope you can make it... BTW if your family wanted to come along there are a lot of tourist attractions in the area within a 30 minute drive of the venue. Here's a sample:
> Walkway Over the Hudson (longest pedestrian bridge in the world): http://www.walkway.org/ >Vanderbilt Mansion & National Park: http://www.nps.gov/vama/index.htm > Ogden Mills Mansion & State Park: http://www.staatsburgh.org/ > Franklin D. Roosevelt Home, Museum, and Presidential Library: http://www.nps.gov/hofr/index.htm >Splashdown Beach: http://www.splashdownbeach.com/ > Southlands: http://www.southlands.org/ > Culinary Institute of America (restaurants, tours, classes, highest concentration of Master Chefs and Master Bakers in North America -- food so good its hard to describe): http://www.ciachef.edu/newyork/ > Vassar College, Marist College, SUNY-New Paltz, Bard College, West Point, etc. offer lots of activities and entertainment in the summer -- all within a short drive. > Also many shopping malls on Route 9, with stadium seating multi-plex movie theaters, live summer theater, etc. ...lots more this is just a sample...

The possible family conflict is a Western Canada family do on Vancouver Island, British Columbia -- about 4,000 miles away as the crow flies. So the question is more whether I'll be on the Pacific Coast or not on that weekend -- there was never going to be an influx of Kuijts on the Atlantic Coast on that weekend.

We may have access to a venue that can accommodate 30+ players free of charge in Tarrytown. Plenty of housing and eateries.
Snoopy Hey everyone, We could probably run this event at the school I work at, Hackley. All I’d really have to do is reserve a space, free of charge. The only issue would be if there were 30 or more people in attendance, as at that point Hackley would consider it to be a more “formal event”. Let me know if you are all interested, and I’ll see what I can do. Jared Fishman

I am very interested in this proposed event. I don't know yet if anyone else from the Springfield, MA area can attend.
Are you considering more than one day, or one full day (12-14 hrs)? Also, any thoughts re: flea market or bringinng stuff to trade? I have supersize DBA-RRR Ottoman, Imperial, and Polish armies, can also field Condotta, French, Swiss armies. I have six War of the Roses DBA armies. Also have numerous armies dor late 1300-1400s for central/eastern Europe. I am game to run a tournament game.

I have been inspired by other posts to create legions of BattleMechs / MechWarriors for 15mm HOTT, and have been acquiring pieces on eBay. i should have many units ready by August 4, so we could have a BigBattle BattleMech encounter to supplement historical gaming.
