I am making a medieval christian altar for a 15mm camp scene and I need some suggestions of some items to put on it and where to get them/how to make them. The altar is a makeshift table and looks very empty right now!
I am not much of a scratchbuilder so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason |

You can't go wrong with a cross and a chalice. The cross should probably have the letters IHS on it for In Hoc Signo (In this sign)refering back to Constantine's claimed vision. Where you would get such items to scale I am unsure.

How about draping an altar cloth over the top of the table?
Perhaps the Tissue paper & glue 'flag' method would work for this? Loaves for last minute communions perhaps? You could always use a crosshilted sword from a weapons pack for the crucifix. A small ornate box holding some holy relic? The finger bones of the patron saint of die rollers perhaps? Martin [ February 21, 2004, 15:43: Message edited by: Martian ] |

Think purple for the altar cloth.

Perhaps a small cross as for a charm bracelet or a child's necklace would work. A reasonable facsimile of a chalice might be constructed from small gold beads of differing sizes glued together. The same technique would work for the censer with fine wire or thread for the chains.
Sounds like fun. |

Donnington do a 15mm cross and altar. Incidentally, I just completed a camp for a Welsh army which includes a stone monument engraved with a celtic cross which I made using a small pin badge from the cathedral shop, pressed into both sides of a piece of milliput.
