Default For those interesting in maximilian rules

I though others may be interested in this. It makes getting those rules easier if you were interested in them:

Thanks for that. The rules were written specifically for the Italian Wars, unlike DBR, so they may prove interesting if you have some armies (and no rebasing is required). I am curious, so I might buy a copy.

Our group tried these a few years ago, but they seemed to be very much derived from DBA 1. DBA-RRR today would be much easier to play being based on 2.2.

Thanks for the comments Bob. I'll pass based on your experience.

Maximillian is certainly derived from DBA....the rules have familiar DBA mechanisms except there are subtle changes to pikes and a couple of other units to make them more Italian Wars era specific. This version 2.0 may very well be an update that reflects a later DBA version thinking...I have the 1.0 version so I can't comment on them specifically. The basing is pretty much the same as DBA as I recall (I don't have it at hand...probably identical) but the army lists are generally of 24 elements. I personally like these rules, they are fairly inexpensive and I'd recommend them. I'd be interested in finding out what updates the author made for 2.0.....will try to find out and report. P.S.- If you follow the "Comments" on the TMP page, you'll find links to the 2.0 Combat Results Table, and to a review and a game report using the 2.0 rules. I believe the General ratings is new for 2.0.....use of D4 to D8 dice for PIPs, I don't recall that being in 1.0. Read the review and game, you'll get a feel for it in comparison to DBA, not a whole lot of extra complication. John
