I've joined recently as a trial player and sent off my first turns for my mentor games. That was a few days ago and I've still not got any turns back when I click 'connect to server'.Is there just a delay in getting turns because the mentors are busy or is there a problem?
thanks. |

Do not despair!
Of the 4 mentor games I had 2 never replied. Try challenging someone else, I'm easy meat. Regards Tostig, aka Gideon. |

I'm a mentor. Challenge me if you wish. I'll try to help instruct you in the art of war.

One of the reasons (though not the only reason) I am leaving DBAOL is the lack of response by DBAOL. I have sent at least 2 emails requesting to be put on the Mentor list because I became aware of the lack of responses by the current Mentors to challenge requests. I also became aware of Mentors teaching newbies some rather unacceptable methods of play. Who knows, if I had been made a mentor, I may have stayed in the community a bit longer since I generally like helping out newbies learn the game.

Let's not feel sorry for ourselves. Support is bad; but let's get on with playing the game. One can easily show newbies the ropes without being a Mentor - if it's something one 'generally likes.' RIII |

I can't speak for other mentors, but I've noticed that a lot of the mentor games reported on my emails as started don't actually show up on DBAol. The ratio is about ten to one. A lot of games that are started only last one or two bounds. I have dozens of unfinished mentor games.
I had always thought that people were not following through or cancelling. Could there be a problem in the system? Is this true for other mentors? RdT |

The simple fact that the Christmas Trial Championship has apparently yet to be finished - together with the lack of updates - has cancelled any chance there might have been that I would sign up on DBAOL, at least for the foreseeable future. The mentor games I've been in have however been fairly ok; only about 2 out of 6 or 7 being unresponsive.
