We played out our long awaited FIW game. New 'Indian village, French-Canadians and plenty of Indians on both sides. This was all the more interesting in that we field unequal size armies and for the British we introduced a movement sequence.
The reference to the Royal order of May 1757 was useful. ![]() http://18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com/ Next, my project SYW French for the German campaigns is nearing completion and I will start construction on various hamlets and farms for that theater.

Robert,
Nice looking armies and terrian. Great report. Some good ideas and concepts on how to give games a historical flair. Game didn't seem too long from the report, but you had to cut it short. How long was the actual play time? Thanks for sharing!

Lex and I usually see each other once a month and have lots to talk about; upcoming projects, conventions, books, etc. After explaining the amendments and scenario, we played two bounds and stopped for lunch.
We resumed the game afterwards, but in total, we played seven turns. With some low pip throws, the provincials remained for the most part, inert. Next time, we shall experiment with the general's characteristic influencing the number needed for demoralisation. Generals, in the old WRG 1685-1845 rule set, were classed as Cautious, Bold or Rash. That characteristic will determine a commands willingness to remain longer (or not) on the battlefield. These minor adjustments will add an extra facet to our 18th c. games and campaigns.

Great report and great looking game.
I really like the village and may borrow the idea for my own project. Cheers, Barry |

Glad you like the village.
I have a second BUA ready for painting; this one is for western Europe, a half timbered, thatched roof village consisting of five structures. If the thatched roofing turns out well, I may be making more BUAs for eastern Europe and the Americas.
