A few photos from a recent scenario. We were interested in crafting a scenario that would involve multiple BUAs. We hoped to see the French capture a BUA and then use the improved odds to deal with the other village blocks. The French objective was to exit either road on the other side of the village. The village you see in the photos has 3 BUAs and a strongpoint as well a surrounding wall classed as fortifications. The French threw a pretty big punch up the middle while cavalry and light infantry skirmished on the flanks. Just when the French got into position they came up short on PIPs and couldn't get the columns synchronized. The one French column that penetrated the village was quickly destroyed. The battle shifted elsewhere and the French were able to win on points before the late-arriving Austrians could engage.

Well done, Tom. I wish my group played DBN. I seem to have to wait for conventions. Good pics, troops and terrain.

See you at Salamanca. :up

Great looking battle Tom, and the figures look excellent! But I really don't need to see things like this and get distracted from my way too many ventures I have going on already, Might just have to get my Frenchies out again and start working on them!!! Looking forward to the next one.

Terry

PS - Frank, you can always move down here and we'll play all the DBN you want!!!! Can't wait to see your Salamanca game!

Tom,

Nice report, cool terrain and pics. So, was the village in the center a 4 part BUA? Tough nut to crack, those.

Thanks gents.

Frank -- This isn't our usual DBA club (MaDBAG), but a strictly Napoleonic group in Lancaster. A couple of guys I used to play OSG type stuff with a decade or so ago. I introduced DBN to them last summer and we've had a great time so far. Next get together we will probably supplement with Sharpe Practice for skirmish level.

Terry -- When's your next venture over the Mason-Dixon?

Spencer -- The buildings are all Timecast, from their Leipzig series and their Central European series -- 6mm. Stuff that should work for Austria and Southern Germany scenarios. I tried the paper terrain and card stock route, but could never get them where I wanted.

Tom, I might try and see if any of the locals are interested in heading to Origins as it is a little easier drive than some of the other big events. Any of you all also considering it? Maybe we could arrange a venture?????

Missed your comment earlier Steve. The village was 3 parts BUA and 1 Strongpoint. Very tough indeed. My hope was that with good column tactics on one of the first BUAs they hit, the French could oust that garrison and then we would see some BUA on BUA action with attacks launched from the captured BUA facing 4 to 6 odds and quick kill and maybe a little better if the French could get another element against that BUA.

Didn't happen this time but I think there's an interesting scenario in there that could be useful for doing Aspern-Essling or Ebelsberg.

See you tomorrow.
