One of my friends is currently based out in Kazakstan, where, to pass the hours, he is mulling over various snippets of the DBA2.2 rules I have sent him.
Purely out of curiousity he ran several passages through a programme to translate English to Kazak, nothing seemed to make sense to the interested locals, so he ran it back through the translator from Kazak to English.
Some of the results are just too good not to share....
This;
Mounted troops can be Elephants, Knights, Cavalry, Light Horse, Scythed Chariots or Camelry. Foot troops can be Spears, Pikes, Blades, Auxilia, Bows, Psiloi, Warband, Hordes, Artillery or War Wagons. Camp followers and denizens of BUAs (Bulit-Up Areas) are not troops, but also count as foot.
became;
The established armies can be Elephants, Knights, Konnitsej, the Easy Horse, Chariots Skajzed or the Army on camels. Armies of a leg can be Spears, Peaks, Edges, Oksilija, Bows, Psiloi, Voband, Hordes, Artillery or military Vans. Followers of camp and inhabitants BUAS (Balit-on the top of Area) - not armies, but also and the account as a leg.
This well know proceedure;
Each side dices and adds the armies aggression factor to the score.
Will forevermore be;
Each party plays bones and adds the factor of aggression of armies to the account.
My personal favourite;
The camp is the logistical element of the army. It is not used if the army has a BUA or more than one war wagon. It must fit into a rectangle the length plus width of which totals no more than four element base widths and is depicted by a simple earthwork and/or palisade, a wagon laager, a brush boma, a group of medieval tents with interlaced guy ropes, Mongol yurts with tethered ponies, kneeling camels or anything else appropriate to the army around a space for a single troop or camp follower element. It must be in good going on it’ sides battlefield, waterway or beach base edge.
Is now so much clearer;
Camp - a rear element of army. It is not used, if the army has BUA or more than one military van. It should be entered in a rectangular length plus, which width totals it is no more, than four width of base of an element and are represented by simple earthen strengthening and-or a palisade, a van laadzher, the brush Boma, group of medieval tents with the bound cords of the guy, jurty the Mongol with the adhered ponies becoming on knees by camels or that - nibud still adapts armies around of a place for unique group or an element of the follower of camp. It should be in good continuation of it? A battle-field of the parties, the waterway or a beach base edge.
And can anyone identify this rule?
Some lists of an officers of army resolve some of their established elements to be obmenennymi on the connected element of a leg during game as a part of tactical movement. They cannot raise repeatedly.
P.S. This is intended as a cheap shot at the translation programme - and maybe Mr Barkers use of language! No offense is intended to any Kazak speakers on line!
