I was told that it is allowed to deploy Wwg with the wide side facing forward and move them in that fashion. It seems a bit strange and I'd like to get a confirmation on it. Cheers.

I believe that is right.....but that if you move in that fashion, each wagon moves as an individual and not as a group.

...so it would require 4 PIPs to move 2 Wwg's?

Yep....remember, groups can only move straight ahead or wheel. The wagons moving sideways are not moving straight ahead. If you line the wagons all up in a group with their narrow fronts forward, then they can use group moves. It looks screwy...but a lot of that has to do with the model....remember, a DBA element actually represents 50 wagons.

Yeah...that Anglo-Norman war wagon thing has to go! Same with the war wagon for the Communal Italians. Maybe those should be modeled as wagons for the beauty, but fight more like litter stands....since they would have a heavy escort?

In response to a question on this, Phil said Anglo-Norman armies had other
standard wagons, even though only one was at the battle of the standard.

Bob Beattie I'd love to see his evidence for that!

Cheers to all for your replies; I thought that starting out sideways might save the player from having to turn the wagons once at the location where he/she wishes to "park" them. My reasoning for that is that, due to the wider sides, the WWg cannot complete the turn (longer distance than 200p). It seems the alternative is also draining PIP-wise. But, I guess, that's the nature of the beast when it comes to Wwg's.
As far as Anglo-Norman wagons are concerned, there's isn't any mention whatsoever about wagons except in the Battle of the Standard in Beeler's
"Warfare in England, 1066-1189". Though obviously not the sole source on the era, I believe that relevant information would be included by an author like Beeler if it was indeed part of the historical record.
I'd also like to know where PB got his information from; I guess all I have to do is email him smile.gif

Ugh, its ridiculous that we have been saddled with these 40x80mm WWg's. Yet another unfortunate import from DBA's black sheep son, DBM.

The old 40x40mm WWg were far better, and given the ground scale DBA takes place at, were a lot more realistic. Just leave the dang horse models off! They wouldn't be there once the wagons deploy for action anyway!
