Sorry folks, haven't got me a copy of 2.2 yet. In my scratched-oved 2.1 I have crossed out "flee" for "recoil" when Ps are beaten.
So, do Ps recoil or flee when beaten by other than Kn, Cav, or Cam?

In that situation, they would recoil.

Here's the full text for when Psiloi are beaten (but not doubled): "Destroyed by Knights, Cavalry or Camelry in going these count as good. If not, recoil."

In earlier editions, Psiloi did the Flee thing in that situation. That resulted in some counter-intuitive results when skirmishers would flee out of a perfectly cozy rock-pile (bad going) into open ground, where they would be more vulnerable. Having them simply recoil makes more sense, I think.

Thank you Paul. I see now; 2.2 set things back to 2.0 and took away that 2.1 change. I does make absolute sense that Ps shouldn't flee when in BG.
Happy New Year!

Paul has stated the rule correctly but this is not a return to 2.0.

Just to set the record straight, the 2.0 rule was

"Destroyed by Knights, Cavalry or Camelry in going these count as good. If not, flee."

I think the change to a recoil if beaten other than by the three mounted types in going they count as good was in 2.1 and stayed as such in 2.2.

What might be better to save the Ps in BG but allow a getaway in good:

"Destroyed by Knights, Cavalry or Camelry in going these count as good. If not, recoil if in bad going, Otherwise flee."
