Hi all!
After this weekends tournament two questions arose. Perhaps you gentlemen can shed some light on this smile.gif
1) Ps gives support to up to three units in front or corner to corner contact. If there is fighting on all three places, does it give support to all three or do you have to choose one unit that gets support?
We said that it could support all three at once...
2) If you have a group of Kn, can all dismount for the cost of one PIP or does it cost one PIP per unit to dismount?
Regards/
Daniel

All three, but one at a time -- if you roll the middle combat first, and the supported unit loses the combat (is killed or recoiled) then when you roll the flanking combats there is no longer any support (because the psiloi is dead or the line is broken up).
2) If you have a group of Kn, can all dismount for the cost of one PIP or does it cost one PIP per unit to dismount?
Neither. It costs +1 pip to dismount, so the cheapest possible cost is a move and group dismount for 2 pips.
But yes, a group move may include dismounting for some or all of the group.

"Spears, Blades or Auxilia add +1 if fighting Warband, mounted troops, or BUA while supported by a single friendly element of Psiloi lined up in contact directly behind them or directly behind a friendly element of the same type in side edge and front corner-to- front corner contact with them."
The rules say "directly behind them or directly behind a friendly element of the same type in side edge ... contact with them." This might be read as front support or side support but keep in mind that each combat is sequential. You fight one and then the next. For each combat apply the rule. What happened in the last combat is not considered. If you used the Ps for the element directly in front in the last fight, that does not matter when you want to use it in a fight with the side element. Do keep in mind that if you were to figth the front one first and lose, then you lose the Ps support for the sides if the center is lost or recoils.
Anyway, as each combat is done after the previous, the Ps does not really "support all three at once."
The Ps supports one at a time, and in the course of three combats can support all three front elements.
In your dismount question I am a little confused. You use the term "unit" which is not a term used in the rules. Did you mean "element?'
A group or an element can dismount for a PIP.

Yes, I fell for the trick question, unless he was talking about the first bound smile.gif

Were you truly being confused, Bob, or simply being pedantic? tongue.gif
