does anyone know from what discussions the new 2.2 ammendment about +1 for rear support for Sp,Bd,Aux against Wb came form.

Nobody can answer this question for you -- nobody knows what discussions any of the 2.2 changes come from, since all those discussions are not on this forum and we are not privy to them.

I can tell you, however, that there was psiloi support against Warband in version 1.1. So this is not a new idea. Phil didn't put it in 2.0; maybe he simply decided that he should have put it in 2.0 after all.

I cannot find a reference to Ps giving support against Warbands in 1.1, just for Sp and Bd against mounted and Camps.

The +1 against warbands was in an early draft of 2.0. At that time Wb were pretty weak and people suggested that it not be included. Now that Wb are not -2 in bad going perhaps he felt he needed to balance the Bd, Sp and Aux a little better. Does this not make the Wb a net -1 in bad going when fighing Ps supported types. Many people were asking that the Warband be only -1 in bad going. Now a Ps supported blade in bad going vs a Warband is +4 to +3 instead of +3 to +3. The Wb still destroys the Bd (and the Ps) if it wins.

reading your other post that showed Phil's changes it sounds like he added the support but the rest of that sentence (going by my aging memory) says only if both units are in good going. If correct, then the Ps support against Wb is only in good going. Is that right? Still good for Bl, Aux and Sp but no help in the BG.

This is the rule as it stands after 2.1

Spears, Blades or Auxilia add +1 if fighting mounted troops or attacking a BUA or camp while supported by a single friendly element of Psiloi lined up in contact directly behind them or directly behind a friendly element of the same type in side edge and front corner-to- front corner contact with them.

So add Warband and you get 2.2. No reference to Bad Going.

Second rank Wb so not support if either element is in Bad Going.

I also stand by my comment that Ps did not give support vs Wb in 1.1.
