There was a nice shop out in Malden when I lived in the area, and Games People Play in Cambridge, though that was more boardgames than miniatures.

Check out this map (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=game+store&near=Malden,+MA&fb=1&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=image); the Malden store seems to be still there, and close to transit, but a look at their website doesn't suggest a lot of historical miniatures stuff. The store in Somerville (Your Move) is since my time; that might be good...
