Okay now that we all need to wait to make marian romans ... can anyone suggest some good figures for a Seleucid army?

Xyston.

Xth Legion are also nice, although I don't know where you could get them now that Gladiator no longer has their contract.

Some of the Freikorps mounted (Xystophoroi, Companions, etc.) are brilliant, and they have personality figures (Seleucus himself). For the Wb I'd use Freikorps HG31 Galatians.

But I'd fill as many slots as possible with Xyston first.

I saw that Xyston has Gauls as well. I can't find them right now for some reason but maybe they could fill as Galatians.

Did they get cautious because they were wearing pants, or did they start wearing pants because they were feeling cautious? (Funny, I couldn't find an appropriate smiley to add to this. Or maybe that's for the best.)

Anyway ... anyone know the coolest Seleucid Elephant for the early periods? Xyston doesn't have one and I am not sure I can get Xth legion.

I'd forgotten that you started this thread. That changes my advice. Given that Alex decorated himself in woad to play the ancient brits, I'm thinking that you're going to want to go with the fully clothed Galatians.

I ordered some Xyston Spartans from Brookhurst hobbies after calling to confirm they had the particular ones I wanted. They arrived in about 5 days.

Freikorps (Feudal Castings now) and Chariot both make good armored elephants. I personally would recommend Freikorps overall (the scythed chariot even has a gorgon head on the cab!) because I'm not as enamoured of Xyston as some people. Drilling the hands is just a nuisance, and some of the figures (notably the Thureophoroi) are WAY OUT OF SCALE. I intend to post a detailed review of the (former) Freikorps figures as soon as I get my next order, but I've seen about a dozen different packs so far and I haven't been disappointed yet.

If you go to De Bellis Bazaar, you can find them under the Feudal Castings brand name. The Wargames Figure Company also sells them (as Feudal Castings).

Just to resurrect a very old thread, I've gone with Freikorp for Seleucids and I really like their Elephant (HG10a) and Scythed Chariot (HG27). They go together really easily, have good detail and great animation.

The elephant is appropriately bigger than the CB Carthaginian one (which, as my only other one, an OG figure, was so small, I thought was a giant!).

I can't say; I don't have any Xyston elephants, but it's a little bigger than the CB one, and a lot bigger than the OG15 one, which is a midget! I'll try to post some pictures of it soon.
