View Full Version : A DBA Question...

My apologies if this has been discussed before. First post and all..

In reading this forum and the forum @ The Miniatures Page I see a very common thread of the DBA rules being rather poorly written.

Now, surely, over the years that DBA has been in existence this has to have been brought to Phil Barker's attention. Has he ever stated why there hasn't been an effort to clarify the rules and perhaps add illustrations and/or diagrams (another common complaint I've seen)?

I've just recently become interested in historical gaming, so I don't as yet have a copy of the DBA rules myself...but in my investigating the genre I've seen these concerns raised on multiple occassions.

Figured I'd ask! ;)

Phil thinks his writing is fine. He wants to keep the books short and low cost. He has written that he does not care if people understand what he writes.

Don't be discouraged Jeff. Most people play pretty consistently. I have only been playing a year and I have found very little to argue about.

Bob is correct that Phil thinks the rules are fine and any confusions can be sttled between the players. Basically, he doesn't want to put any more effort into them.

Come by the Guardtower tomorrow. We are playing our DBA Campaign at 2PM. There will be about 8 of us there and we would be happy to introduce it to you.

See you then graemlins/thumbup.gif

Hmmm. I'll see if I can steal away tomorrow. I don't know if I can (need to check with the wife). But, I'd love to see the game in action.

In reading this forum and the forum @ The Miniatures Page I see a very common thread of the DBA rules being rather poorly written. Welcome, Jeff.

Personally speaking I think that talk of the rules being "poorly written" is often overstated.

I managed to get to grips with them after a couple of readings and some solo try-outs.

They're a fine set and well worth your time and effort.

I hope to get a copy of the rules soon.

It also helps if you know how to diagram sentences.
