Hello,
I'm relatively new to DBA (getting back in the loop after along absence. Be glad to hear of any players in the Edinburgh (UK) area willing to mentor a newbie or talk me through a couple of games. Can offer Later hoplite Greek, Alexandrian Macedonian (+ most sucessor morphs), later Early Imperial Romans (c. 160-190 AD) and Maurician Byzantine armies, plus maybe a couple of others as armies (I always liked combined arms regulars :) )
Anybody out there?
Thanks in advance

Dear Bill,
Not in Edinburgh, but not too far away here in Glasgow (used to be through there regularly - before the kids...). I don't exactly have a regular group going, more like three shift working afficionados and a few willing hangers on, but, iof your over this way, I'd be happy to arrange something, and run you through the game play (all biblical stuff here, but no biases against your armies).

The miracle of the internet!
Two DBA players, unknown to each other, only 50 miles apart via the M8. If they do not want to drive all the way to the other's home, they can meet half way, at Whitburn or Harthill. One can bring a folding table and they can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a few games on a sunny Satruday or Sunday afternoon in the beautiful Scotish countryside.

When I was in Edinburgh in '83 there was a great miniatures club that met up above a pub and they played all sorts of games and ran a big annual convention. Are they still there? They may well have some DBAers or possible recruits.

That would be Harthill where it never stops raining (well 3 dry days in 1862 according to legend)?

Would you care to meet me halfway for a game or two, so that I may exact revenge for the last game? Currently, "halfway" would be in Casablanca; I believe there are frequent sunny days there. (I'm in Malabo at the moment, enjoying the malaria and cholera, like on any good campaign.)

Dear Cyrus,
Will need trade in my trusty Nissan for an amphibious landingship (maybe an aircraft carrier too) if I am to pop down to Casablanca.
Failing that we will just have to wait on your return to more civilized lands, whwere we now have some Babylonians ready to do battle (an army nearly as outre as your own circus!)

Hail Sarduri II!!!!
Well, you're the one who likes litorial landings!!! We have a lovely beach here, although my travel agent who can't spell "Malibu" is now fired!!
Alas, I cannot use DBAOL from here; Local IT will not support it, so see you for a game (or 50) in a few weeks.
Hi Bill Dunlop in Edinburgh!
Are you interested in joining us at some point? We normally meet in Glasgow as that is generally the most convenient place for most, but we do come from all corners of the Empire! My homebase is in the Highlands, and we have one other player who travels from Edinburgh. (Perhaps you could share a tandem on the M8!)
