Hi everyone,

I'd like to invite you all to attend a Biblical theme 15mm DBA Tournament we are holding here in Columbus, OH, at The Soldiery, Dec. 13. The Tournament starts at noon Saturday and will run for four rounds. We will use v2.1 and no BUAs.

What constitutes a Biblical army? Well, I'll be somewhat generous and arbitrary: Any Book I army list BEFORE #52 Early Hoplite Greek (NON-inclusive). So, yes, I know that means Illyrians and Thracians are allowed, but hey, I had to cut it off somewhere, and the Greeks seem like a good time. Besides, it also includes all those cool chariot armies that you know you've been wanting to play!

We will have loaner armies available, as the guys around here have been on a bit of a spurt painting (or buying) Biblical armies. Please let me know in advance, if possible, if you will need to borrow an army (it's no problem -- I just don't want to be surprised by a dozen requests!).

Winter Sword is part of the Ohio Valley Hoplites chapter of NASAMW, who will also be in attendence running their 200-pt Mini Tourney that day. The tournament is sponsored by them, The Soldiery and HMGS Great Lakes.

And finally, I think a Biblical theme is quite topical for near Christmas, but one of my friends doesn't see the connection. What do you think?

Hi everyone,

Looks like we might have a bumper crop of out of town folks for the Winter Sword Biblical theme DBA Tourney. Just a reminder, this IS standard size DBA -- not big battle. Our Big Battle tourney was this summer at the Tin Soldier (2004's will likely be in Toledo at Glass City Games).

Anway, back to Winter Sword. I spoke to some Indiana folks that are thinking of making the drive up: Steve Smith, Greg Crane, and new Indiana residents, Pete and Jodie Panzeri. Paul Potter is considering the drive up from Nashville, and Jim Williams is coming from Cincy. A number of local folks have also said they are planning on attending.

I have decided that first prize will be a Biblical theme camp created by yours truly. If I get energetic enough, perhaps second place will get one as well. Who knows? Maybe The Soldiery will chip in with a prize or two, too...

Hope you can attend. Remember, we have plenty of loaner Biblical armies, so let me know if you're coming and want to borrow (you'll get first crack from the selection)...
