Colin and I played a 2.2+ BBDBA game last night with his Athens/Thebes/Thessaly alliance against my New Kingdom Egyptians. Colin still dislikes the 2.2+ movement rates and withdrawal from combat rules, but he is a good sport and played on to victory. Here are a few quick observations:
I didn't notice any glaring movement anomalies. I suspect that is because I am getting used to 2.2+.
My NKE use the Raider option instead of Blades so this, along with the buffed up rear support rules for Spear, made for a very close game. The Greek Hoplites were mainly double ranked, looking smash the Egyptian foot before their chariots could sweep the flanks.
The 2.2+ disengagement from combat rules both helped and hindered. My valiant Bows tied some combats with the Spears but could not disengage and take a shot as they surely would have under 2.2 :(, but my Raiders were able to pull back and dress the lines when appropriate :E.
All in all, I think that 2.2+ made the LHG more viable against NKE.
