I amd embarking on building a set terrain battlefield complete with roads, hills, and a stream ~ river. I'm using foam board insulation and building up the layers with additional layers of foam. I'm going to overlay the entire area with a sheet of white craft felt using plain white glue.

My question is has anyone ever tried airbrushing felt like this to get the desired terrain color? I'd like to read some of the groups thoughts on this. Thanks in advance for the input.

Sincerely,

My experience with felt by both spraying and painting is that it takes a lot of paint/spray to totally cover up the original felt color. The foamboard itself will paint up very well without the felt. If you use a solvent based spray it actually melts the foam a little and will give it a rough look which varies depending on how much paint(solvent) gets on a particular area. I would test a small piece of felt before buying the material for this project since felt can be expensive in wide lengths.
