Hello,

Now that Cold Wars is finished, I'd like to distribute the remaining MU sticks (3/4/5/6 MU measurement tools as seen here (http://fanaticus.org/discussion/showpost.php?p=141772&postcount=10)) so we can get even more players playing.

I have 40 tools left: 2 plywood, 1 transparent, and the rest black. I'm not sure how many WADBAG has left, it may only be a small stash.

I already have some pending requests. If I can avoid placing another order and get out of the business of making these, it would give me more time to play DBA PBEM, so that's probably a good idea.

If you want any of these, please post on this thread or send me a personal message regarding how many you want and where you're generally located. I know several of you in Australia wanted some. If possible, to save on shipping I'm inclined to send one package to Australia and have you arrange to distribute them using local mail or face to face contact instead of overseas shipping.

Once again, I'll ask for reimbursement via PayPal for actual shipping costs plus whatever you'd like to donate towards this effort.

Oh yeah, Larry: Tell me how many to reserve for Stoogecon for the 2.2+ event there :up

Thanks!
Alan

I would like two or three - happy to pay postage to Australia just for my own, by paypal preferably - I don't care what they are made of - so send me the least favoured by others

Hi Alan, I'd like to buy 2 black ones, if possible. If you can PM me the cost and postage to Oz, I'll send through my address and make the paypal deposit immediately.

Cheers, Mark

Sorry, just noticed the bulk post to Australia suggestion - happy to act as the clearing house and forward them on to my fellow countrymen if you want to send me all the local orders.

Hi Alan,
I'd be interested in two more for Australia if we can arrange something. Dynamite offer, thanks mate :2up

To my fellow Antipodeans, I'm happy to get in on some group postage thingy if that works out. Thanks for the offer of being the clearinghouse for
mu distribution, Mark.

Hi guys,

I have quite a few requests from Australia both for MU sticks and to help distribute them.

Have any of you in Oz worked with a laser cutting house before, or can anyone get access to a cutter at a university or similar? Because it seems to me the most efficient way to do this would be for one of you to have them produced locally, and then distribute them from there. I could provide some help with this, but I only know my own local resources when it comes to laser cutters.

Thanks,
Alan

Okay. Here's the plan.

I'm going to send 20 MU sticks to Barry (lewchips) in Australia for further distribution. I'll give him the info I have for everyone else in Australia who has requested tools.

I'll reserve a few for distribution at Stoogecon (including you, Mike), and that leaves 3-4 other shipments.

Unfortunately, options are very limited, so I can't fill all requests for specific colors and materials.

The outstanding claims will take care of the remaining stock. If you're in Australia, I'll have Barry contact you soon; otherwise I'll send a personal message to work out the details if you made the cut.

Thanks!
Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks for organising this with Barry.

Cheers,

No problem.
Are you destined to receive some of the tools Barry requested, or should I add you to the list of recipients he'll mail to?

Thanks!

Hi Allan,

I indicated my interest on a different thread. So I will repeat my request for 2 of the sticks: I don't care what material it is made from.

Alan, thanks very much for organising this - it's above and beyond the call ... but greatly appreciated. Alan (that's confusing)

Hello,

Thanks, everyone!

Most of the packages I have addresses for should be getting into the mail today or tomorrow. I have 2 more envelopes to pack up, and that will be all the movement tools I'll be sending out.

Distributing these has been fun, but also more work than I want to do on a continuing basis, so after this I won't be producing another batch in the forseeable future.

If anyone else is interested in producing and distributing more batches of MU sticks, I can either give you the laser cutting file, or coordinate production and shipment by the laser cutting house I used.

The final production count was 196 tools, distributed all across the United States and around the world: California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Florida, Australia, and the UK, off the top of my head.

I hope and expect we'll see more demand for these in the future, but in the mean time, happy gaming!

Thanks,
Alan

I distributed some at Huzzah Hobbies last night, so add Maryland and Virginia to your list. Players were quite grateful, and surprised when I told them that they were free!

Thank you for doing this, Alan!

Mike,

Well, there's a bit of a problem.

I had my wife pack up the last envelope of MU sticks while I was at work, and failed to communicate that she wasn't supposed to send all of them. So now, I'm completely out of MU sticks and don't have any left for Stoogecon.

I'm going to try to hook you up with a few from someone closer to you, but no guarantees. You're first on the list if I make any more.

Sorry about that!

Also, I appreciate the demidecimu rulers that you had made for Cold Wars, they're useful in conjunction with the notch tools and for measuring LH and command radius.

Thanks, and sorry for the misunderstanding!

Hi all,

The 2.2+ Movent Tools have arrived in Oz and are being distributed.

Here's one I ran over with a white crayon:

Once I have sent out the movement tools that have already accounted for, I will post a note with the number of remaining tools available.

Thanks to Alan for organising these :up

All the best,

Barry

I'd just like to give a final Thank You to everyone who participated. I hope your MU sticks get a lot of use.

I've received generous donations, including some from people who didn't want any MU sticks. I've recovered all production and shipping costs, and any remaining proceeds will go towards further 2.2+ development and promotional efforts.

Other than keeping one of each tool version I produced for myself, I have a few more to hand out at Stoogecon, and then we're finished.

Thanks!

Hi Barry,

I got my sticks yesterday. Thanks for that. With the white crayon that you used to highlight each stick's writing, do you expect it to wear off and if so did your seal the crayon?

Thanks

On mine, I used thinned down acrylic paint to fill the etching. I slopped it on and wiped it off. I haven't had any problems with it coming off once it dried.

Thanks

Greg,

I got the tip from the Litko Games website.

I have not had any issues with it rubbing off so far and I have been testing it to see how well it works.

No, I haven't sealed the crayon.

I'm out as well. I believe the WADBAG group may have a handful not allocated yet, and I'm not sure how Rich G's stash in Florida is going.

We are about to have our first FL convention since the release of 2.2+ at the end of April.
