While Kingo and Greg played Hussites vs some other Book IV blokes next to us, Mark and I played Sea Peoples vs Hittites, and Neo Assyrian Empire vs Philistines. Let me assure you that knights are not too powerful if their owner rolls four ones in a row! http://smallsagas.wordpress.com/2012/02/17/chariot-wars-with-dba-3-0/

Thanks for the critical report.
I was reading along in the second game waiting to see how the Sp fared... too bad about the dice! Spear are still at 4 vs. 3, but Kn sure seems strong. Hard to imagine either dropping the Kn factor or lifting that of the Sp though. The destroyed-if-beaten is the problem, but that is what seems historical.
Off-topic, are the Mycenean chariots Magister Militum? Are you going direct to Magister Militum for the figs? The painted figures sure look great. The horses don't always get a great rap, but I love that their stuff isn't gigantic, and has a lot of character.
Cheers,
RIchard.

It's handy that the MM chariot horses are smallish, as they make fine replacements for Essex chariot horses (which are often huge).

Many of my early games of DBA were with Mark's Dark Ages British types - Saxons, Scots, Normans, etc. The Saxons lacked Ps support so they were always toast against the Normans. Once we started fielding armies with a decent amount of support we realised how much of a difference that made. It's a lot more fun when it's more even. Many armies in DBMM have adequate support for their Sp, so the removal of support would make many armies perform differently between the DBA 3.0 and DBMM.
The Chariots from Kingo's Mycenaeans are indeed Chariot chariots (from MM as now). They are nice crisp figures. I'm really enjoying painting some MM and Feudal Castings Saxons at the moment.
And in reply to Snowcat: Yes I like the small MM chariot horses. I understand that chariot horses tended to be too small to be useful riding beasts, BTW. I had to do surgery even on the poles of the Essex HCH so they would fit on a base, and bend the horses' tails down! I now have loads of giant Essex horses if anyone needs a boat anchor!
