I'm leaving to see the new king Arthur movie. I had a few spare minutes so I decided to tell everyone. May want to do Sub-Roman British Army afterwards. (Does anyone think Ambrosius was the real King Arthur?)

I understand the movie is based loosely on the story of Lucius Artorius Castus, the Roman commander of a unit of Sarmatian cavalry that apparently restored the northern British frontier after it was overrun by Pict and Scots sometime after 175 AD.

I'm updating my Sub-Roman army and would love to have a unit of cavalry that looked like Sarmatians in Roman service. The question is what they would look like. The movie is very inspiring in this regard. I don't see them as "wild" Sarmatians, but at the same time, I don't see them armed and equipped as typical Roman equites. In the Roman Officer link below, you'll note for example that a suspected sarcophagus image of Castus shows him in a non-standard dragon-headed helmet.

Can anyone recommend appropriate Sarmat-Roman figures, or alternatively, figures that look like those depicted in the movie. I won't bother asking whether there are any Keira Knightley-esque figures out there to stiffen up my ranks of pedyts.
