Can anyone tell me what material the "loin cloth" on the Old Glory 15mm Nubians is supposed to represent. It doesn't have a smooth texture, sort of rough almost like animal skids maybe or a grass skirt. I painted the first pair of Nubians with this painted in a patchwork of orangeish, white/black spots to represent some animals skin - an Impala maybe. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Definitely leather, and of various types. Priests apparently in panther skins.

Well, I couldn't take the grass skirt look on these guys so I painted on a mixture of white paint, white glue and water putty. It killed the grass skirt texture so now these guys have a more plain loincloth which I can either paint as linene or various animal/leather patterns. I took a look at the web site and there are a few pics of what look like the prepared leather that these might represent but I decided to go with the more traditional/accepted/streotyped appearance of a plain loincloth.
Thanks for the websire though I'll have to llok through other sections on that site as well.
