Dear All

Anyone know what the armoured head piece on mongol half-armoured horses is made of? The rest of the horse armour appears to be hide / scale type stuff, but on the Essex horses that I have, the top and front of the horses' heads are covered with what looks like a metal plate.

Is it brass?

Is it iron?

Is it felt?

24 waiting to be painted tonight...

Many thanks

Simon

All the McBride illustrations I've seen in the Osprey book and the Warlords book show the headpiece as iron, and the horse body armor as lameller - usually dark grey-brown or even blackish. The horse body armor is full in all these illustrations however and not just the front.

PS-to add some pose variety I've added some Khazar HC from Essex. I think some of the other Essex Steppe heavy can figures might work to add variety as well.

Ah Roland you perfect gent. Iron it is, as I read late yesterday evening... In fact in a rare spurt of time and energy last night after that, I got 12 of the 24 horses' iron bits done and gritted the 12 bases of LH.... Progress!
