View Full Version : Time to Retire the Confused General?

TMP has a discussion thread on the question - name the best and worst miniatures rules cover artwork. It is surprising how many times DBA (with its confused general image) has been mentioned as worst. I actually kind of like the confused general. That said...I wonder if the Fanatici would like to see new cover art on the next edition of DBA?

A Tradition that goes back to at least the WRG 5th Edition Army Lists IIRC

With the way the rules are written, isn't it apropos? ;)

For added topicality and postmodernism, he should have the scroll exchanged for a copy of the rulebook (featuring himself reading a rulebook featuring ...).

I like the cover.

I like the concept, but a stylish update would be great

It's still DBA, it's still confusing so keep him.

I don't see any reason to re-brand the book.

If anything, lengthen the scroll?

As mentioned, the concept is humorous but the artwork is poor. I would like to see it professionally done.

I agree, update the picture but keep the general.

It was once changed from black and white to color, so there is precedence for upgrading it.

How about a photo of a re-enactor recreating the pose?

Aren't there 25mm figures of it? How about a photo of one of them, perhaps with other elements and terrain features in the background?

Judging by the size of most re-enactors, you wouldn't be able to get him to fit on the front cover.

Keep it the way it is. Totally confused, just put 3.0 on the bottom! :rotfl

Maybe 3.0 should have 3 confused generals....

Maybe the WADBAG guide should feature Imperator Brantley posing as the confused general in full costume!

My God that would be very funny! and maybe the Imperator can have some extra money for modelling! :rotfl

Yeah, you'd have to switch to landscape! :)

It has been suggested that v3 maybe A4 format, so a bit more space to fit him on.:)

Given the nature of this forum and DBA player ship at-large I suggest the cover as it is no longer representative.

It should really depict a LARGE group of confused generals. *

And let's break out of the ol' Greco-Roman mindset. Given the breadth and depths of the rules we should see a pugnacious Sargon discussing ZOC's with a bewildered Charles the Fat, totally ignoring the heated exchange between scowling Yo****sune and pedantic Chandragupta over LH quick killing SP. Meanwhile Niall of the Nine Hostages eloquently swaps painting tips with an enthusiatic Piyi and the Sapa Inca.

That's what I think.

*no not Large generals...shudder.
