Hello All,
As I was working on the Lydians I cogitated about what type of camp would work. I wanted to get away from the usual ruined temple. So I thought about where the Lydians were situated and realised that they were on the edges of the old Hittite empire. So what better than the gate of an abandoned Hittite frontier town. So arming myself with the Osprey publication on Hittite fortifications I came up with the following. The towers are 40mm square wood faced with cork to represent the mud brick construction. The large stone foundations is heavy card inscribed in a random pattern. Similar method for the gate way.

Hi Prich,
Thanks for that.
Cheers,
Nice one, yes!
I need a camp for my Hittites and I was thinking in something similar to this, but adding a couple of lions in the door.
Actually I was going to "copy" the Baueda Hittite fortifications, http://www.baueda.com/hop_ane.html#15BUA but yours is also inspiring.

Hi Greg,
that is really effective. I have just finished basing a Mithridatic army.
Do you have another brilliant idea for a camp theme for me?
Regards,
Richard.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the comments. I too am gathering figures for a Mithradatic army using mainly Xyston figures. However, I still need to consider waht I can use as a camp. When you come up with something I look forward to seeing it.

Mithridatics got left all night in the rain after dullcote sealing... Actually apart from losing some of the flocking I think they're gonna be ok :D
They were mostly (all?) Donnington from Brian at HAW. Haven't done the legionary option at this stage. Brian drilled and piked the foot at no charge.
I've just got the Xyston Alex Mac box in the mail - as well as all the drilling and gluing, some of the worst castings I've seen. I don't care that much about flash, but these are terrible. Still, I will be back for the Archie box :D
_____ON TOPIC WARNING_____
But for a camp, I am thinking about Amasya (Amisa). There is a bit of citadel wall there surrounding "Pontic tombs". To my unpractised eye the walls could well be pre-medieval. What say you, Dr. Gregorius?
