Just a quick question before I put glue to metal.

What is recommended for Aztec Warband base contents? Should I have all figures on one base the same type of warrior, or should they be mixed (Jaguar warriors with normal warriors)?

The Osprey book said that the bright colours and different uniforms were used by Generals to easily see how his different troops were doing (especially his elite). I've noticed that some gamers have mixed contents, but I would like to confirm before completing.

Thanks in advance. :D

The Aztecs had a very formal system of uniforms. As veterans caputed more enemy they received more fancy uniforms. The 5Wb should contain recruits in simply loincloth and perhaps quilted cotton jerkin, veterans in red/blue/green suits with same colored cone hats, and a couple of jaguar knights, and maybe one guy with a green suit (no hat) and back banner (claw) on each element. Your 4Wb element should be all qinochin (sp) guys with mohawks, yellow siuts and green and yellow geometric shield patterns. The 2 Bd elements should be all eagle knights (nobles). On each element you should have one higher rank guy with a back banner of some sort as the element captain.

The Osprey book details the levels of warrior and their respective colours etc.

My force consists of the Essex army pack and they have included a variety of figs for the Warbands, but not enough of each to have complete bases of them. For the Bd element they have included the Mohican guys who rejected promotion to officer so they can stay on the front line (forget their name). I thought the army list only had 1 Bd element!

The guys with conical hats, have a scheme also shown in the book, with red? outfits and line patterns. Will be doing one of these as a priest with black outfit, white spots to lead some of the white outfitted warriors. Don't really want to have elements with a wide variety of warrior types, since reading the book it mentions the generals viewing of the coloured outfits representing the different warriors current status. The green guys were captains or some such officer, yes?

Well, the Aztec method of training was to make the veterans in the fancy suits responsible for looking out for the recruits and newbies. That is why they should be mixed. Yes, as I said, the guys in green suits should be one per base as the captain with the "claw" back signifier.

The guys with mohawks and yellow siuts are your 4Wb element. They were the shock troops.

There are 2 Bd elements besides the CNC. Those elements should be all eagle knights, but you couldn also have one as jaguar.

I have the Aztec Essex army as well. Making one of the 2 kill guys a priest is an excellent idea.
