My confession is that I'm a lousy painter, so my expert-painter friend is finishing up my first DBA 15mm army, the Parthians, aided by Osprey.

We'd appreciate suggestions on flocking and decorating the base. It's clear enough that the Parthians could have Persian steppe coloring on their bases, but we're not sure of good approaches to that. Any suggestions/success stories?

Had some good recent experince using Water Putty. Put it on the base....add the minis and cover their bases with the putty while still wet....apply your choice of flock/sand while it is still wet and let it dry overnight....comes out very nice. Best part, the water putty will take paint to be any color you want. I leave it in the basic dark yellow for desert bases and sprinkle on reptile sand from the pet stores....looks very nice...once it is dry you can put elmer's glue on in spots and add different flocks, rocks, or static grass.
