Kate's Egyptians beat Marco's Hyksos 2:4 on his home ground (i think).

Both generals walked away with their heads on their shoulders. :-)

Quite a strange result, especially for the first game of my first tournament. I guess that's what you get for having you Wb general lead the charge.

For the record, it does look like CC did challenge Michelos first. But I have to say that when I challenged Michelos I thought he hadn't been challenged yet since the post below seemed to be "for example" rather than a real intent to challenge.

And, piling-on is not in genre. Bad karma for the rest of us for violating one of those immortals rules. By the way, who's responsible for enforcing those rules? Did anyone ever actually get killed on holy ground or anything?

Anyone interested in a silly special rule? If you're playing on the Village in the woods map, a general may not move into contact with the other general if the other general is in the village due to the village being holy ground. Nope, never mind, too silly.

Yes, both would benefit from Quickenings if they both chop your head off since all battles are considered simultanous. I guess the only way to logically explain it would be that one cuts your head off while the other rips your heart out and eats it, experiencing a similar sensation

Man, this is a gory tournament ain't it?

Nixalsverdrus and Hoplite led their forces against each other and with the skill and cunning the northern barbarians are famous for, both armies clashed head to head (no pun).

After a few bounds of warbands rushing for and back Hoplite won 4:3.

I am confused
Axe reports that his general was killed, but not by your general. If this indeed was the case this would not constitute a Quickening, this would be a case of his general having a few spears and arrows stuck into him and walking away as you crazy immortal types are so prone to do

If you still have the battle saved please replay it and confirm the result. Remember, your general must kill his general.

If there is still confusion, someone please send me a replay and I could see for myself.

OFFICIAL RULE CHANGE

Time for one of my famous "midway through the game" rule changes.

Players are eliminated after being defeated 4 times instead of 3 times.

This change should keep enough players active during the middle of the tournament to keep things interesting.

Once all the players are finished fighting their round 1 games, then everyone can issue new challenges for Round 2, but that is still probably a couple of weeks away.
So I think for right now you are all caught up and up to date, we just have to wait a couple weeks for the rest of the players to catch up before we move on to Round 2.
Hope this answers your questions. Let me know.

...As the two armies collide on the desert battle field both immortals look up as they feel the all too familiar tingling in their spine (with appropriate background music) and sight their immortal general opponent's chariot. Both generals signal their chariot drivers and they thunder toward each other. As the chariots pass the immortals take lunging swings at each other. The scene is hidden for a brief moment by the dust and din, then we see Michelos' head flying in a graceful arc to land in the dust at the feet of the armies.

Of course, I had the help of a good army matchup, good terrain, good combat rolls, and his general being attacked in the flank. Other than that it was a straight up one on one win <grin>.
