DBA Resource PageMiniature SourcesReviews of M.Y. MiniaturesMick Yarrow's M.Y. Forthcoming: Minoans and Hittites.
Michael Sims on M.Y. Ancient Americans: For those of you interested in painting up some Indians for the up and coming American theme tourney, I thought I'd do some shameless advertising of M.Y. Miniatures Ancient American Indians. Here is a Pic of the afore mentioned Indians. It's an old picture from his display stand. It shows the command set on the left and a couple of bases of warband; unfortunately the bows are out of shot (if you'll pardon the pun) but you get the general impression (again, no pun intended). The general is in fact a shaman. These figures are very easy to paint, with just a splash of colour on the loincloth and feather. All packs are now priced at £1.30. If you give Mick a call he'd be more than happy to put together a DBA Army pack for you, or any combo for that matter, he's a really nice guy. Alan Saunders on M.Y. Inuit/Eskimos: Inuit 1 is the command and warband pack. You get three shaman and five 'others'. The advert talked about 'various poses' and that is what you get, to some extent. The shaman are all in the same pose, standing and waving their arms above their head. The variation comes with what they are holding; a knife, a spear a club and, in one case, a severed head. He wears a headress with antlers and warm, comfy clothing. The other Inuit come in three poses; advancing at a crouch, standing at rest and standing waving a weapon. Again, there is a mix of weapons; big or small club or spear. One figure has an open hand and a seperate club, but other weapons are cast on. Some of the figures also have a bow and quiver on their back. Inuit 2 are the archers. You get three poses with no additional variation that I could see. One is advancing holding a bow, another is standing and shooting, the third is kneeling and shooting. All are wearing anoraks with the hood up and leggings. There does not appear to be to much flash on them, or much in the way of prominent mould lines. Detail is not deeply cut, but looks adequate. In size they seem to be a little smaller than Essex; the important thing is that they do not seem too tall or too small. Overall, they are very nice; certainly the best 15mm Inuit on the market (smile) They bode well for the other ranges that Mike Yarrow does. | Top of Page | Miniature Sources | DBA Resources | Last Updated: August 28, 2002 Comments, suggested additions, and/or critiques welcome.
