We demand better rights for the humble Psiloi. We feel that the way in which these perfectly legitimate elements are treated in wargames armies is reprehensible. Psiloi are not inferior beings! They are not interchangeable between armies, any more than a Knight or Blade! They should not be painted so poorly simply because they are in a lower economic position. If those psiloi could get proper training we are sure they could make fine Knights! In other words, Psiloi have the same rights as any other figure.

This is what we demand:

  1. No more poorly painted Psiloi! People spend so much more effort on the Knights and War Wagons, and spend so little effort on the humble Psiloi. But next time you drybrush, inkwash or detail your wargames figures, remember, you must do the same for your Psiloi! True, they wear poorer clothes than their rich cousins. But what is wrong with that? Shade and highlight the Psiloi with the same care and compassion as your Legions or Pikes!!!!

  2. No more interchange of Psiloi between armies! How shameful it is to use your Seleukid psiloi in a Marian Roman army, for instance! Not only does it imply a total disregard for the natural rights of these elements to be treated the same as the rest of the army, they also have to see far more action than a normal element! Each army is to have its own Psiloi elements, to be treated as belonging to that army. No more of this "morphing" crap if it degrades and overuses psiloi alone!

  3. No more poorly based Psiloi! Psiloi are often poorly based, because their humble position is considered by some to be unworthy of full attention. But in putting Psiloi on different groundwork, one symbolically rejects the Psiloi as being part of the army. Base all figures to the same standard, including Psiloi!

  4. Pack Psiloi up properly! When we pack up after a tough game, we often callously toss the Psiloi into the box after the neatly packed Knights, Warbands and Pikes. Even worse, we forget the Psiloi still deployed on the table, humbly awaiting our attention. If we forget them altogether, we say, "Oh forget it, you can keep it. It's only a Psiloi..." How cruel! And how much anguish we would suffer if we lost a Knight instead of a Psiloi!

  5. No more cut-price Psiloi! If your Knights are from Wargames Foundry, then so should be your Psiloi! Don't skimp and get them from Old Glory instead...Buy Psiloi that are well-detailed, because it shows that you appreciate them!

  6. Pronounce the word Psiloi properly! Would you call Knights Keniggets? Or Pikes Peeks? Then stop calling them Cy-loi, Silloy or Sooli! Call them P'silloy, and say the name with RELISH...not CONTEMPT! How many times have Psiloi saved your ungrateful army?

  7. More dioramas showing Psiloi! What can be more dramatic than a pair of Psiloi ambushing a Hoplite? And yet, how few dioramas show Psiloi in all their glory! Why concentrate on Viking blades and English Knights more than Psiloi? We'll tell you why! It is the UNSPOKEN CLASS SYSTEM operating UNDER OUR VERY NOSES!!!!!
